Obituary of Shannon (Dowling) Schlachter

Shannon Elizabeth (Dowling) Schlachter, 49, passed away February 14, 2017 after a 9-year battle with ovarian cancer. Proud mother of Kevin and Emma Schlachter. Devoted daughter of Jerry and Geraldine Dowling. Dear sister of Karen (Bill) Wiesner and aunt of Kelsey and Jake Wiesner. Survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins from across the US and Canada. Shannon most recently worked as a Certified Diabetes Educator and Registered Dietitian at Texas Children’s Hospital in the Maternal Fetal Medicine area. She was a graduate of Lakota High School, Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and the University of Cincinnati master’s degree program in nutrition education. Shannon loved exploring with her kids and friends, golfing, cooking and watching figure skating. She was also a true and faithful follower of the Lord. A funeral mass will be held at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 5720 Hamilton Mason Rd. in West Chester on Saturday March 11 at 11 a.m. Friends and family will be greeted at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Memorial Contributions may be made in Shannon’s memory to MD Anderson Dept of Gynelogical Oncology; St Angela Merici Catholic Church Missouri City, Texas; Adoption Connection of Greater Cincinnati; or the Nutrition Council of Greater Cincinnati.
