Rex A. Shaver passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017, in Houston, Texas. He was born November 29, 1946, in Centralia, Illinois, to Rex L. and Lenora Shaver.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ellie; daughter, Liz Green, and her husband, T.J.; grandchildren, Luke and Nora; sister, Susan Bushnell; and niece, Jennifer Ranney.

Rex was an Attorney and retired Administrative Law Judge. He served in the United States Army, in Vietnam and Germany. Dedicated to faith and family, Rex was a parishioner at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Rex was an avid reader. He will be remembered for his wealth of knowledge, his humor, and his love of traditional Irish music. For forty years, Rex was an integral part of Houston's Irish music community, playing the Irish drum.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Joseph J. Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott St., Houston, Texas, 77007.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2017, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10330 Hillcroft St., Houston, Texas, 77096. The Rite of Committal will take place at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana.
