Malcolm was in one of the first classes in St. Rose of Lima elementary school, where he also attended church. As a church member, he was actively involved in the prayer group, music ministry, liturgical ministries and others ministries through the years.
Malcolm was a musician. A proud University of Houston graduate, he put himself through college providing vocals and playing guitar and banjo in the PhilMacAlan trio. Later, he formed the Christian group Tapestry. This group performed throughout Harris County and Texas. Malcolm retired as a construction engineer in 1990 and went back to school to become a sound engineer. He produced several albums and was most proud of volunteering his knowledge at churches, including St. Rose and the Catholic Charismatic Center.
Malcolm was an engineer. He helped to design the air conditioning systems for buildings at NASA. Later, he became co-owner of Calco Construction Company with his brother-in-law Lorn Frazier, Jr. During this time, he designed and built large pieces of equipment used on the job sites that built some of the underground infrastructure of Harris County.
Malcolm loved model trains and woodworking. Malcolm built small scale replicas of trains and landscapes. He also prided himself on building out his workshop himself and built bookshelves for his granddaughter.
Malcolm loved the Astros but loved his family and friends more.
