Obituary of Miguel Navarro, Jr.

Please share a memory of Miguel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Miguel Navarro Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated community member. Miguel left us on July 30th, 2024, at the age of 77. Miguel was a Vietnam veteran, a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion, and a dedicated volunteer at the VA Hospital who touched many lives with his service and kindness.

Born on January 25, Miguel served his country with honor and distinction in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. His bravery and dedication to duty were a testament to his character and commitment to protecting the freedoms we cherish.

Following his military service, Miguel was a dedicated member of St Theresa church. He continued to serve his community through his active involvement with the Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree Grand Knight, Assistant Commander and trustee, Treasurer, and Color Corp. He was a member of the American Legion Post 52 and served as commander. His steadfast presence at countless events and initiatives, always ready to lend a helping hand, left a lasting impact on his fellow veterans and community members.

Miguel was preceded in death by his mother and father, Maria Natividad and Miguel Sr, and his grandson Josiah.

Miguel was a devoted husband to his wife of 47 years, Linda, and a loving father to their five children: Christina, Gabriel, Nicholas, David, and Angelica. Miguel had two daughters from a previous marriage, Denise and Lisa. His family was his pride and joy, and his legacy of love and compassion will be carried on by his seven grandchildren: Isabella, Noah, Zachary, Sadie, Abigail, Ricardo, and Anna Katherine.

Miguel's dedication to volunteering and tireless efforts to make a difference in the lives of others will be remembered by all who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit inspired many, and his absence will be profoundly felt.

Miguel Navarro Jr. will be dearly missed but forever remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at St. Theresa's in Memorial Park, 6622 Haskell Street in Houston, Texas.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 8, 2024, with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall, also at St. Theresa's in Memorial Park.

The Rite of Christian Burial will follow the reception, with a gate time of 2:15 p.m., at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas.
