Obituary of Nelson Leslie Feeney

Nelson Leslie Feeney, 74, passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas on January 15, 2025, after a brief illness. Nelson was born on August 17, 1950, to Lester and Ruth (Marckel) Feeney in Defiance, Ohio.

Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, brother Michael Feeney, nephew James Daniel March, and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his sisters, Iris (Tony) Villoch, Traverse City, Michigan, and Beth (Daniel) March, Defiance, Ohio; sister-in-law Bette Jo Feeney, Columbus, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nelson attended Defiance High School and Ohio State University and proudly served in the US Navy, where he served as a radio operator on the USS Worden. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Meritorious Unit Commendation. Nelson retired from Intracare Hospital North in 2021 and was involved as a board member of his HOA at The Enclave at Castlebridge. 

Nelson had a great sense of humor, was passionate about movies, books, and all things related to the Navy, and had a special heart for children, especially his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.  A memorial service will be held in August in Defiance Ohio.  Nelson will be buried at sea by the US Navy. Joseph J Earthman Generations Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements.
