Obituary of Eugene Marshall

Eugene "Gene" Marshall, born September 17, 1939, in Fort Worth, Texas to William and Anne Marshall, died on February 15, 2025.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Joyce R. Marshall, his daughter Laura and her wife Stacie, and nieces and nephew Susan, Melissa, Alice and Hank.
Gene graduated from Lamar High School in Houston with the class of 1957 and went on to Rice University where he graduated in 1964. He then attended University of Houston, where he was a member of the Law Review, achieved his Juris Doctorate in 1966 and was given the W. St. John Garwood Award.
He was employed as senior counsel in the Houston office of Phillips Petroleum where he became a specialist in the field of toxic torts. He retired in 1999.
Gene enjoyed all aspects of automotive and motorcycle racing. He was one of the founders of the Corvair Club of Houston serving as the club’s first President. A favorite memory of his was attending the TT motorcycle races on the Isle of Man. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed taking his boat out on Galveston Bay from his vacation home at Jamaica Beach as well as numerous fishing trips to Mexico.
Gene and Joyce shared a love of travelling. Their adventures took them across the globe including driving throughout New Zealand, cruising around Cape Horn, a 50th wedding anniversary trip to French Polynesia and numerous trips to Europe and Canada, many of which were home exchanges affording them lengthy stays abroad.
He was a gourmet cook who never hesitated to try a new recipe. He relished in taking cooking classes while traveling to learn about all different cuisines and bringing those influences to his home kitchen and backyard grill.
