Obituary of Joan Claire Kloc
Joan Englehorn Kloc was born on September 19, 1927, to Richard and Elaine Pavia Englehorn in New York, New York. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Lucille and Tommy Thomas. Joan spent the majority of her early life traveling the country as Tommy’s job moved them around before eventually settling in Texas, where she met Damond, the love of her life.
Damond and Joan were married on February 10, 1945, and welcomed six children. They were among the first families to live in Hilshire Village, where they had many friends, hosted parties and backyard BBQs, and made some of their most cherished memories. They were founding members of St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Joan later joined Our Lady of Walsingham, where she attended mass until she was no longer able. She was an avid bridge player and loved a good game of Scrabble.
Joan is predeceased by her loving husband Damond and her oldest son Brian. She is survived by her children Joannie Garza (Peter), Michael Kloc (Diane), Elaine Jasmin (Tom), Steve Kloc (Chris) and Janet Munchrath (Kyle). She leaves behind thirteen grandchildren – EVERY ONE of whom has a college degree (of which she was very proud) and twenty four great-grandchildren with another on the way.
The Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Our Lady Of Walsingham, 7809 Shadyvilla Lane, Houston, Texas.
The Rite of Committal will immediately follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy., Houston Texas.
