I will never forget the first time I met Emily. We were both a little shy, but then after a bit she looked at me and said, “Let’s take a selfie.” That small moment broke the ice and showed the kind of person she was: warm, open, and effortlessly kind. From that point on, we instantly bonded and became best friends.
Emily had a way of making any moment fun, whether we were watching scary movies, playing creepy games and screaming, going to the pool, or just doing absolutely nothing, we always had the best time together. Her presence alone made everything better. She was one of the kindest, funniest, and most genuine people anyone could ever meet.
I miss you every day Emily and you will always be in my heart. I love you so much and thank you for an amazing friendship.

I remember the first time I met you Emily, we were in English together and I sat right next to you, it was my first day at Lamar and you treated me like we’ve been best friends for years, You helped me in class, helped me set everything up, and then we went through your make up bag and you showed me all your favorite products….I wish I can see you, hug you, just have one more conversation with you, you were such a beautiful soul.. every time you walked into class, I knew we were about to talk the whole class period, about silly teenage stuff, but it was the best stuff because I was talking to you.. you were so full of love, everything you did had a touch of love, I promise to honor you every day Emily, in everything I do I will honor your generosity and love. I love you so much, best friends from day one….

Emily, you’ve left pieces of yourself in every heart you’ve touched.
Some of my favorite memories with her are the quiet ones—seeing her cooking with her mom, playing with Ginger, or just sitting around, talking about nothing in particular.
We love you so much—and we always will.

I was privileged to be Emily's Deaf and hard-of-hearing teacher during her journey from 4th grade to 8th grade prior to her moving. She was such a strong and resilient young lady who gracefully faced numerous challenges, overcoming them with incredible determination. I will always cherish her vibrant spirit, infectious humor, and clever sass, which brought joy to our DHH sessions. Watching her grow into the remarkable young woman she became was a true blessing. Emily will be profoundly missed. May she rest in peace and find comfort in reuniting with her sister in heaven.

I remember meeting Emily when Uncle Tommy brought her over to visit my partner Lizzy’s parents. She was so warm and welcoming to me, the new guy around, when I’m sure she had so much to catch up with Lizzy on. Though I didn’t have a lot of
time with her, I know that she brought so many fun times and loving memories to Lizzy and her family, and to everybody. I
hope she rests easy and in peace.

This is such a loss as Emily was a joy. I was one of her fifth grade teachers and know first hand how amazing she was. Praying for her family as you grieve. May you somehow find peace that she is reunited with Josie. May her memory be eternal.
