Obituary of Johanna Vevette McBeth

Please share a memory of Johanna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Johanna Vevette "Jo" McBeth, born February 24, 1957, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to George and Elaine Jachim, died on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, in Houston, Texas.

Jo is survived by her husband, Laird; her two sons, Sean and Kevin, and their respective spouses, Katrina and Alyssa; and her six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Travis, Penelope, Crockett, Rowan and Callum.

Jo loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She grew up in Colorado, found love in California, got married in Grand Junction, Colorado in 1982, and raised her family in Sugar Land, Texas, and Haddonfield, New Jersey.

While working as a registered nurse for 20 years, she raised two boys who went on to become US Naval Officers and have families of their own. After surviving breast cancer, she retired and donated her time to philanthropic missions and finding ways to help victims of abuse. She was an active member in many organizations, including Interfaith Care Givers and Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO). She also enjoyed travelling -- visiting over 35 countries, yet one of her favorite places to visit was Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where she enjoyed skiing with her husband and family, and especially enjoyed skiing with her grandchildren. Her other hobbies included golfing, caring for her grandkids, and having a good laugh. She will also be remembered for her delicious souffles.

A viewing and visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 5:30 p.m., on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Joseph J. Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott Street in Houston, Texas.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd, Sugar Land, Texas. A reception with the family will follow in the Parish Hall.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Laird, Sean, Kevin and Ford McBeth, and Robert and William Gowell.
