Obituary of Donna Loesch Black

Please share a memory of Donna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The kind and loving spirit of Donna Loesch Black transitioned on June 4, 2023. Donna was born November 20, 1946 in Denver, CO to Mary Louise Boulan Smith and George Omar Smith. Donna felt blessed to be a “military brat” spending her childhood in Hawaii, Texas, Iceland, England, and Virginia before her parents retired in Texas.  Donna was always the adventurous big sister to Gregory Omar Smith and Georgeann Peters McNicholas, playing cricket, building soap box cars and rafts, horseback riding, and waterskiing. Donna was a cheerleader and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, Springfield, VA in 1964 and from the University of Texas with a bachelors degree in Physical Education.  Donna worked for Rod Kennedy assisting with the production of the Kerrville Folk Festival in its early years. Donna married Neil Loesch in 1968 and had two sons, Aaron Neil Loesch and Adrian John Loesch of whom she was so very proud. She enjoyed gardening and arts and crafts while caring for her young children. Donna married Robert Black in 1993 and loved playing tennis, snow skiing and sharing her life with Robert. Donna worked as a paralegal for Arnold White & Durkee before retiring.  She found great satisfaction volunteering for many years with the West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM).  Donna loved spending time at the Highland Haven home on Lake LBJ. She loved to read and dreamed of becoming an editor one day.

Donna will be heartfully missed by her aforementioned husband, sons, brother, and sister and her other family members:  Judy Besse, Libby and Zackary Chaky, Amber Black, Corbin and Stacy Black, Alyssa Gushwa, Taylor Black, Robert Black, Jr., Justin Peters, Kyle and Sachiko Peters, Jennifer Peters, Michelle and Corey Sutherland, Colin Hudson, Cara Hudson,  Jaxon Peters, Jessica Peters, Leon Peters, and Allen Peters.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Grace Presbyterian Church on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Donna wanted donations made to the World Central Kitchen in lieu of flowers.
