Thomas Richard Watson, born June 23, 1946 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Hubert and Marie Watson, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 in Houston, Texas.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Watson, and his mother, Marie Watson. He is survived by his ex-wife Kathleen Watson, children Deidra Weiss and Chelsea White, sons-in-law Toby Weiss and Adam White, stepson Larry Robertson, grandchildren Faith Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Lane Johnson, Macy White, and Connor White, siblings Cherry Burke and Don Watson, nieces and nephews Larry Schneider, Ray Schneider, Tina Spear, Chad Watson, and Keisha Watson.

Tommy served in Vietnam from 1965-1968 as a Navy Engineman. While in the Navy, Tommy received the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. After being honorably discharged, Tommy came home to be a diesel mechanic for 36 years. He was a lover of classic / sports cars, building / fixing computers and other electronics, NASCAR races, photography, videography, and relaxing at home. He was well known for being able to fix any tough problem that just required a bit of unique engineering and problem-solving. His independent spirit kept him fighting to live each day even to the very end. He loved his family and getting to see his loved ones, children, and grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 3, 2023 at Joseph J. Earthman Generations Funeral Home, 234 Westcott Street in Houston, Texas. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2023 at 11:15 a.m. at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

Donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to fund research and development of better treatment options for Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy.
