Ernest E. "Corky" Straley, Jr., born October 15, 1938 in Midland, Texas to Ernest E. Sr. and Alfa L. Straley, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in Houston, Texas.
Corky was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Sr. and Alfa.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shaveevan Straley, whom he married on October 18, 1977 in Thailand.
He is also survived by his daughters, Shannon Straley of Frisco, Texas, and Michelle Straley of Houston, Texas ; son, Sean Straley and wife, Darlene, of Sugar Land, Texas; grand-daughter, Ashtyn; and his sister, Dianne Vitaska and her husband, Daryll, of Houston, Texas.
Corky was a longtime resident of Houston, Texas where he held a variety of positions in the petrochemical engineering field, including instrument design.
A 1956 graduate of Comanche High School, Corky also attended the University of Texas at Austin and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
In addition to being an avid tennis player, he was a prolific reader and loved solving puzzles. Most of all he loved being with his family.
A funeral service honoring the life of Corky will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 27, 2014, at Joseph J. Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott Street.
