I feel so fortunate to have known Rogelio and called him both a neighbor and friend. And I know he had so many friends! He was kind and friendly to all who crossed his path. I will forever remember his warmth and humor. I will also never forget his thoughtfulness as I left Houston to return to Massachusetts. He gifted me with a bottle of La Fuente wine for each stop that I made on my road trip. It was such a treat!
I now raise a glass in memory of my friend and in honor of his rich life and legacy. Patricia and his family are in my thoughts and prayers.

My dear friend Rogelio, it's been a little over a week since you left us to be with our Lord and Savior. You will be truly missed at church on sunday's. I remember so many times talking to you after church and shaking your hand and asking you if you were hungry and you always said "poquito" and your hands were always so cold and I always looked for something to wrap your hands to keep them warm. You would always say "Thank you Bruno" I just wanted to tell you Thank you so much for the gifts you shared with me especially the wine. My sundays here at St.Anne's will never be the same without you Rogelio, you were always so kind to me. It's been a great pleasure and an honor to have been able to help a fellow Marine. We first met Rogelio, self-proclaimed El Doctore De Vino, at his restaurant/wine museum on Long Point back in the ‘80’s. Over the years, he regaled us and our sons with stories of his life, geography, history, wine making, and the Korean war in which he proudly served. He taught us to enjoy wine with Mexican food and expanded our appreciation for the “nectar of the gods” past Boones Farm and German Whites.
His vast knowledge and witty humor were only outweighed by his love of life and of people. We count ourselves blessed for having him in our lives and we take comfort in knowing that he is whole again and is now in the company of one other rather well-known Wine Maker.
Our condolences go out to Patricia and family on the loss of this wonderful man.

My condolences to you, Patricia, and all your family. Rogelio was such a intelligent, caring and witty person. He "never met a stranger" because he had that charismatic personality and shortly after entering a room or space of people, he captivated them with his stories. One of my favorite is how you two met and how he "wooed" you. His love and knowledge of wine was legendry. It can truly be said of Rogelio that he loved his family, cared for his friends, and really lived life. Lets take comfort and smile knowing Rogelio is in Heaven; his spirit free from physical restraints and entertaining all around him.
