Dawn is remembered by her family in Washington State. My brother and I were first cousins of Dawn's. Although we didn't see her often, her big personality always made a big impression in our quiet homes. Her appreciation for education and career were an inspiration to me. My grandparents (Nettie and Henry Afdem) and their four sons were instrumental in raising Dawn -- they always spoke lovingly of her and their service in WWII must have had an influence on her.

Sincerest and heart felt condolences to the Family. Dawn and I were colleagues in the caring for patients with mental issues, including substance abuse. I greatly admired Dawn as one with that special combination of Compassion, Competence, and Spirituality.
So memorable is Dawn's devotion to her life work of caring for others. She was so effective because she possessed that most potent of all human drives; namely Love. Treatment Planning with Dawn was always pleasurable because she led not only with well-honed skills and incredible knowledge, but with her very kind heart.
