Obituary of Anthony "Wil" Dalferes

Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
A.W. “Wil” Dalferes died peacefully on November 15, 2016. He was born September 15, 1934, to Monique Martin Dalferes and A. Wilmot Dalferes in Lafayette, Louisiana where he grew up. His college degree was from Tulane University followed by four years in the U.S. Navy (and many years of “Navy stories”). Wil served aboard the USS Sirius with several tours to Japan. After the Navy, Wil began his lifelong career in sales: first with Kohlmeyer and Sons in Huntsville, Alabama; returning to Lafayette; and moving to Houston in 1975, where he joined Texas Commerce Bank in retirement planning. His final career was with Fidelity Investments as a Vice President in charge of 401(b) retirement plans. He retired from Fidelity in 1998. Following retirement, Wil volunteered with Houston Habitat for Humanity; Magnifcat Houses, Inc.; Spring Branch Community Health Center; and Memorial City Hospital. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Memorial Park. Wil had a lifelong love for golf and baseball. It was a great thrill for him to attend the 2005 World Series when the Astros played the Chicago White Sox. Wil is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Linda; children, Scott of Houston; Eden Brown of Austin; Laura and Jeff Dodson of Seguin; grandsons, Joshua, Caleb, Alan, Jeremiah, and Daniel Dodson; sister, Yvonne Macredie; as well as many other family members and friends. The family extends its deepest thanks and love to the caregivers at Colonial Oaks Westchase Memory Care Center; to Helen Potter and all the staff of A-Med Hospice. We are grateful for all their kindness and concern for Wil and our family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wil’s memory to Amazing Place Scholarship Fund; 3735 Drexel Dr., Houston, Texas 77027. A Funeral Mass celebrating Wil’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2016 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Memorial Park, preceded by a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:45 a.m. May he rest in peace.
