Please share a memory of Charlotte to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charlotte Sloan Hall, born October 6, 1946, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 5, 2016. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Dewitt and Ernie Elizabeth Smith, and her brothers Landon Smith, Donnie Smith, and Rudolph “Dick” Smith. She is survived by her loving husband of more than 20 years, John Hall; sister, Gloria Vester; children, Elton Sloan and his wife, Sandi; and Rebecca Hoelewyn and her husband, Ronnie; grandchildren whom she loved dearly, William Cody Hoelewyn, Clifford Sloan, Thomas Sloan, Brandon Hoelewyn, Mason Hoelewyn, and Charlotte Sloan; and the niece she called her “second daughter,” Renea Dillon and her husband, Mike. Charlotte was a wonderful southern cook and made the best seafood gumbo and stuffed flounder anyone ever tasted. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of Houston and stood with Judy Carter in the early 1970's in America’s fight for the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment. Charlotte had a green thumb and could grow anything. As the owner and operator of Sugarland Florist in Sugarland, Texas, she had a natural talent to arrange flowers eloquently. Her favorite flower of them all were daffodils and we think of her every time we see them. Charlotte loved to celebrate life and the beauty of it all. Anyone that ever attended a dinner or party she gave has unforgettable memories of them all. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Cedar Bayou Grace Church, 2714 Ferry Road, in Baytown, Texas. Interment will follow at Cedar Crest Cemetery.
