Please share a memory of Kanaan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kanaan Daoud Misleh, 71, passed away on December 24, 2016. He was surrounded by the love of his life and children when he went to be with our Lord. Kenny, as all of his friends called him, was born on May 15, 1945 in Ramallah, Palestine. Growing up, Kenny was a pillar of strength for his family. He served as a father figure for his younger brother and a constant support for his mother. He moved with his family to the United States in 1966 where he settled in Jacksonville, Florida. It was here that Kenny started his family and began his life-long passion of working in the food industry. He was finally able to have a restaurant of his own when he moved to Houston in 1980. Once Sandwich King opened its’ doors, Kenny quickly became famous for calling every customer “boss” and yelling “make it good!” with each order. It was his boisterous personality and ability to befriend everyone who walked through the door that drew people in and made the restaurant a success. His charisma, strong work ethic and loyalty carried over into his family life as well. Along with his wife, Kenny raised four successful children who strived every day to make him proud. As his children grew, Kenny looked forward to spending time with them and his grandchildren, especially for lunch every Sunday. Nothing could put a smile on his face and bring him more joy than his family. He was greatly loved while on this earth and will be fiercely missed by everyone who knew him. Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Daoud; mother, Iknou; and brother, Salim. He is survived by his wife, Asma; sons, Omar and Johnny; daughters, Lisa and Aida; daughter-in-law, Kristina; and his grandchildren, Emma, Kanaan, Wyatt and Johnny. A recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2016. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2016. Both services will take place at St. George Orthodox Church, 5311 Mercer Street in Houston, Texas. Kenny will be laid to rest at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
