Obituary of Evelynda Sta Romana
Evelynda “Evie” M. Sta Romana born August 24, 1952 in Quezon City, Philippines to Paterno and Clara Sta Romana passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 11:37pm in Houston, Texas.
Evie was preceded in death by her father, Paterno E. Sta Romana.
She is survived by her Mother, Clara M. Sta. Romana and siblings Carmencita S. Marzan, Antonio M. Sta. Romana, Julita “Julie” S. Kozma, Joseph M. Sta. Romana, Edward M. Sta. Romana, Cristina S. Tulensa, Belina Nelia M. Sta. Romana, and many friends.
Evie’s mission in life was to serve others. She began her professional journey with an internship to the United States in Nursing that later led to her permanent move to the United States from the Philippines. She practiced as a nurse for more than 30 years. After completion of the Cardiovascular Technology Program at Baylor College of Medicine on June 29, 1983 she focused her career in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. A great part of her career was at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston, TX and most recently West Houston Medical Center in CVIR. During her career, Evie touched many lives facilitating quality care to her patients and professional mentoring to her peers bringing her “No Nonsense” intellectual prowess whenever needed. She was guided in mission by her strong faith which she nurtured every Wednesday by volunteering her time at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. Evie’s personal passions included her majestic mastering of the piano and her relaxed self-taught guitar style. She expressed her zest for life through dancing and singing karaoke. Evie lived a modest life dedicated to fitness and logged many miles in her trusty running shoes.
A Memorial Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Joseph J. Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott Street, Houston, Texas 77007 (713) 802-0000.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, Texas 770025.
An informal Reception will follow at Hunan’s Restaurant, 3835 Bellaire Blvd., Houston, Texas 77025 (713) 666-2000.
