Obituary of Billy Ray Hoffart
Billy R. Hoffart, born March 21, 1948, in Houston, Texas to Martin and Theresa Hoffart, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 in Houston, Texas.
Billy was preceded in death by his father Martin J. Hoffart.
Billy is survived by his spouse Deborah of Houston, Texas; his daughter Candace Dyches and her husband Eric Dyches of Kerrville, Texas; his daughter Christina of College Station, Texas; and his grandchildren Kayla and Landree Dyches. He is also survived by his mother Theresa Hoffart, his sisters Sandra Nevares and Sherry Hoffart, and his younger brother Daniel Hoffart.
Billy graduated from John H. Reagan High School in Houston, Texas. After high school he attended college for a couple of years at the South Texas Junior College in Houston. In 1982 he began a long career working for Entex, then CenterPoint Energy, where he worked for 25 years.
Billy married Debbie in 1981 in Houston. They were happily married for 36 years.
Billy was a member of St. Rose of Lima and was very involved in the Knights of Columbus in Houston. He received "Knight of the Month" a few times and "Knight of the Year" for 2016. He was also Vice President for the Board of Directors. He enjoyed fishing, shooting guns, watching football, and spending lots of time with his family. He was a Lifetime Member/Volunteer of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for over 35 years and was a member of the Cutting Horse Committee. He enjoyed western movies, volunteering, his dog Blue, and Chinese food!
A Knights of Columbus Rosary will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service honoring the life of Billy which will at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Council 2917, 607 East Whitney Street in Houston, Texas.
