Obituary of Thomas E. Davey, Sr.
Thomas E. “Ted” Davey passed away on September 1, 2017, at the age of 88. He was born on April 6, 1929, in New York, NY. He was an honorable, devoted, and loyal son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by Sally Davey, his loving wife of over 57 years, as well as children Laura, Tom (Cynthia), Liz, and Paul (Channing). In addition, he is survived by eleven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother, Joseph Edward Davey.
Ted was a graduate of Xavier High School (New York, NY), The College of Holy Cross (Worcester, MA), and the Wharton Graduate School at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA). While at Holy Cross, he was a member of the basketball team. He was a Lieutenant JG of the United States Navy, serving aboard the destroyer USS Miller on a round-the-world cruise during the Korean War. He was a Houston resident since 1967. He was a leader in a diverse group of charitable organizations. He had a long and entrepreneurial career in numerous industries including insurance, logistics, limestone, manufacturer’s representation and distribution, and real estate.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3617 Milam St., in Houston, on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 10:00 a.m.
