Obituary of Maxie E. Mendoza
Maxie E. Mendoza, 85 years old, born in Waco, Texas to Eugene and Guadalupe Mendoza, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017, in Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Guadalupe Mendoza, his first wife, Ruth Mendoza, sons Eugene Mendoza and Paul Mendoza, and daughter, Melissa Mendoza. He is survived by his wife, Lydia Mendoza, son, Max Mendoza, step-daughters, Melinda Villaseñor (Johnny) and Rebecca Castañon (Eliezer), as well as ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Maxie retired from Aspen Manufacturing and recently retired from Kroger. He was a Knights of Columbus member of Council 2917 and Wilhelm Assembly 1094. He was a lector at St. Joseph – St. Stephen Church for many years and also sponsored trips to Coushatta as fundraisers.
He was a respected baseball coach to the Jets with Heights Little League and the Knights of Columbus, winning the State Championship with Knights of Columbus in 1996.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., at Joseph J. Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott St., in Houston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph – St. Stephen Church, 1505 Kane St., in Houston, on Friday, December 1, 2017, at 10:00 a.m.
