Obituary of Donald L. Hetzman
Donald L. Hetzman (Don), passed away on November 29, 2017, at Westbury Place in Houston, Texas, at the age of 70. He was born to Dale and Margery (Rierson) Hetzman on January 2, 1947 in Alma, MI.
Don graduated from Alma High School and then joined the United States Marine Corps. Don served in Vietnam, as well as all over the United States and Japan. USMC decorations include: Rifle Expert (7th Awd), Pistol Expert Badge (3rd Awd), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (w/1*), Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation Gallantry Cross (w/Palm), Republic of Vietnam Medal and a Good Conduct Medal (w/3*).
He was a supporter of the NRA and law enforcement. He enjoyed road trips and always had a cup of coffee in his hands. He had a heart for the less fortunate, often donating to food banks, and loved animals. His favorite past time was giving people a hard time, with a great sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Hetzman, and sister Shirley Hetzman.
He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Hetzman of Rosharon, TX, granddaughters Mikaila Hetzman-Fish and Britta Fish, great grandchildren Ava, Harlo, William and Jaxson, former wife Deanna Peckinpaugh, brother Paul Hetzman of St. Louis, MI, sister Laura (Lon) VanSickle of Perrinton, MI, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to The Bailey Organization Veteran Facility in Manvel, Texas or Pug Hearts of Houston.
