Obituary of Nathan Joseph Tamburello

Nathan J. “Nat” Tamburello, born December 3, 1928 in Fairfield, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in Houston, Texas.

Nathan was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lee and Rose Ragusa Tamburello; sister, Katherine "La Baby" Tamburello; and his brother, Joseph N. Tamburello.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Anita “Nina” Tamburello; his children, Tommy Tamburello of Campwood, Texas, Kathie McDonald of Carriere, Mississippi, and Natalie Glorioso and her husband, Mark, of Carriere, Mississippi; stepchildren, Rick Wilson and his wife, Debbie, of Houston, Texas, Keith Wilson and his wife, “Deb”,  of Highland Park, Illinois, Kimberly Wilson (Tom) of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Paige Satterfield, Tommy Allen, Jr, Angela Walker, Stefani Tent, Michael Jetty, Sam Glorioso, Eric Wilson, Katherine Wilson, Grant Wittman-Wilson; great-grandchildren, Evan Allen, Jasper Hill, Josh Walker, Olivia Walker, Sophie Walker, Sofia Tent, Marius Tent Jr, Hannah Tent, Nathan Tent, Katie Tent, Blaise Jetty, Savio Jetty, Gemma Rose Jetty, and great-great grandchildren, Jacqueline McCormack and Ingrid MichelleTent; uncle, Jake Ragusa; aunt, Francis Candelari; as well as numerous nieces and nephews,

Nat and his family moved from Fairfield, Alabama to Houston when he was a small child.  Growing up, Nat attended Jefferson Davis High School and was a member of St. Patrick's Church.  In 1950, at the age of 21, he followed in his father's footsteps and opened his first business; a grocery store called, “Nat's Food Shop” at Maxwell Street and Delafield. 

Over the years, Nat owned or managed a series of small businesses in a variety of fields, including grocery stores, a bar supplier, beverage distributor, home construction and repair, and commercial property management.  Nat was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved heading out on the open road in his RV with family and friends. 

Nat was also a long-time member, board member and past President of the Sacred Heart Society of Little York, an Italian Catholic organization well known for spaghetti lunches on Thursday with proceeds going to charity.

A visitation and rosary will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1111 St Joseph Parkway in Houston, Texas (https://sacredhearthouston.org).  A reception and lunch will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Society Hall, 816 East Whitney Drive in Houston.

The Rite of Committal will be on Monday February 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
