Obituary of Gerald Patrick Whitworth

Gerald Patrick “Pat” Whitworth, born March 25, 1943, in Harlingen, Texas to Raymond and Yuba Whitworth, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 in Katy, Texas from complications related to Parkinson’s.

Pat was preceded in death by his son, Bruce; parents, Raymond and Yuba; and his brother, John.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Pamela; daughter, Deborah Holin and her husband, Mitchell, of Frisco, Texas; son, Keith, of Atlanta, Georgia; grandsons, Brandon Strait of Austin, Texas, Ryan Strait of Los Angeles, California, Cameron Strait and his wife, Jamie, of Frisco, Texas; grand-daughter, Lindsay Strait of Frisco, Texas; brothers, Charles Whitworth and his wife, Mary Ann, of Katy, Texas; brothers, Paul Edward Whitworth of Brownsville, Texas, and Robert Whitworth and his wife, Linda, of Sterling, Virginia; and 19 nieces and nephews.

Pat graduated from Harlingen High School in 1962 and was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen, Texas where he served as Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and Catechism instructor to high school seniors.  He was very active in ministry and visited local nursing homes where he took communion to the elderly.  He also volunteered his time at Rio Grande Regional where he received the Heart of Gold Award for service. 

Pat was also a well-respected businessman and owner of Pat’s Shoe Box for 38 years.

A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by a Memorial Mass at 1:15 p.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018, at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church, 5356 11th Street, in Katy, Texas.
