Obituary of Daniel Bernard Slade
Daniel Bernard Slade, 85, passed peacefully at home with his family surrounding him.
He is preceded in death by his loving daughter Pamela Slade. He leaves his wife of 61 years, Julia (Schneider); children David Slade (Diana), Rhonda Lastovica (Gary), Tammy Russell (Paul), grandchildren Stacey Lastovica, Stephanie Self (Sean), Paul Russell Jr., Matthew Slade (Krystle), Lauren Russell, John Lastovica (Preslie), Shelby Slade and two great-grandchildren Clara and Julie Self. He also leaves behind one sister, Helen Molsbee (Troy) from Purvis, Mississippi.
He was born on July 10, 1933 in Lumberton, Miss. He joined the 101st Airborne Infantry division during the Korean conflict. He married Julia in 1957 and moved to Houston to raise their family.
He retired from Binswanger Glass. He enjoyed working on cars, wood working, gardening, telling stories from the past and watching Dr. Phil and Animal Planet.
He was a great and loving provider for his family. He will be missed every day.
A visitation with Daniel's family will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Joseph J. Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott St., from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell St., followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
