Obituary of Margaret A. Selling
Margaret A. Selling, born February 14, 1927 in Manistique, Michigan to George and Anna Selling, was born to eternal life on Thursday, April 11, 2019 in The Woodlands, Texas. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers George (and Ethel), John (and Helen), Steve (and Doris), Martin, Francis, and sister, Mildred Selling, all of Manistique, Michigan. She is survived by her sister Mary Catherine Olssen of The Woodlands, Texas and Dorothy Ann Johnson of Manistique, Michigan, as well as her niece and Goddaughter, Trina Olssen and husband, Robert O. Ibnousalah, with whom she resided.
Maggie resided in Midland, Texas for more than 60 years, having begun a career with Shell Oil Company as a standardist, then working as a production clerk, retiring from that organization after 40 years of service. She transitioned her retirement to Delta Drilling Company and then Great Western Drilling. She was an active member of Desk and Derrick Club, serving on various committees, and held the office Secretary and Historian. Maggie achieved the honor of Grande Dame for her commitment to the organization. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Parish in Midland and active in the Altar Society as well committed her time to events such as the Family Fair. In her youth, she was an avid bowler and in later life, she enjoyed swimming classes at the COM.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Parish in The Woodlands, immediately followed by a reception. After a Memorial Service in Midland, Texas, Margaret will be interred in Manistique, Michigan. Donations may be made to the Houston SPCA, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The American Cancer Society.
