My wife recently asked, would you like to go to America again? I said yes, but then I want to visit old friends. On the internet we searched for Bastiaan's (we called him Bas) address, however we found his obituary. It was a shock to me.
Our father's worked for SHELL on Curaçao. Bastiaan and I lived not far from each other. As little boys we often played together. Our paths separated when Bastiaan emigrated to the USA and my parents returned to the Netherlands. As friends Bastiaan's parents, Dick and Len's had regular contact with my parents.
I have good memories of Bastiaan and I am sorry that he died so young. I wish all family, friends and his loved ones strength with his loss.

my sympathy goes out to Bastiaan's family . Bastiaan was a unique person to say the least , he had a great sense of humor. we were friends in high school and surfed together in Surfside and Galveston during those years. He surprised me with visit to my place of work 25 years later after he made some inquiries at my place of business i had during high school. Yeah, Bastiaan was full of surprises and will be missed. Rest in peace my brotha.
