Obituary of John Ronald Titus
John Ronald Titus, age 92, passed away on September 1, 2019.
Ron was a kind man, a loving brother and husband, a doting uncle, and a thoughtful friend. He enjoyed life: good food, stimulating conversations, music and travel. As an educator, religious leader, counselor, humanist, he was respectful and honest.
Ron was born on May 1, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois, to Albert Titus and Lillian Briant. He moved with his family to Port Arthur, Texas, at age 9 and attended St. James Elementary and High School. After graduation he completed studies at St. Mary’s Seminary in LaPorte, Texas, followed by Gregorian University in Rome, Italy. In his forties he returned to academia and completed his masters at the University of Houston, Clear Lake.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brothers, Gilbert, Richard and Edsel; his sister, June Titus Ramirez; and his niece, Angela Titus.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; sister-in-law, Patricia Titus; brothers-in-law, Henry Ramirez and David Burns (Betsy); nieces and nephews, Jan Titus Moscatelli (Richard), Joe Titus (Kari), Pat Titus (Keri), Chris Titus (Rob), Ron Titus (Kay), Monica Titus Coulter (Monte), Regina Titus Clerici, Andrea Titus Williams (Tom), Denise Titus Flores (Richard), Cody Titus (Misha), Scott Titus (Cathy), Linda Titus Conboy (Kevin), Monte Titus (Irene), Becky Ramirez Cue (Jon), Denise McCray (Michael), Rodney Pennell; as well as their children; and numerous cousins.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial mass celebrating Ron’s life at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2019, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3600 Brinkman, in Houston, Texas. A reception with the family will immeditaly follow in the Parish Hall.
