Obituary of Thomas John Atchison

Thomas John Atchison, born March 16, 1936 in Houston, Texas to Gertrude and Charles Atchison, died peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2019 in Houston, Texas.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Suzanne Brennan, Charlene Burns, and Dianne Tubbs.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue Armer Atchison; daughter Trudie Atchison; Decie Atchison Cornelius and her husband Roger; Tammy Atchison and granddog JaggerBelle; brother DeLoss and wife Patsy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tommy was a native Houstonian and attended Holy Rosary Grammar School, St. Thomas High School, the University of Notre Dame and the University of Houston. 

He was married to his High School sweetheart and love of his life, for 62 years and they were blessed with three daughters.  Tommy loved animals, was a great story-teller and the ultimate gentleman.

Tommy’s love of golf led to a long and storied career where he was a lifetime member of the PGA, Professional Golfer’s Association.  He was a Head Club Pro and played on the PGA and Senior PGA Tours.  He was an accomplished instructor who was well respected and loved by his students.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection celebration at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 10688 Shadow Wood Drive in Houston, Texas.
