Alphonse "Al" Joseph DeMarco was born May 16, 1944 in Houston, Texas to Mary and August DeMarco and passed away at age 75 on December 26, 2019. A longtime resident of Waller, Texas, Al recently returned to Houston before his passing. Al was preceded in death by his parents, August and Mary DeMarco; his son, David DeMarco; his brother, Tony DeMarco; and his brother-in-law, Russell Farrar. He is survived by his wife, Selma DeMarco; sons and their spouses, Michael and Marion DeMarco, Eric and Susan DeMarco; and daughter, Michelle DeMarco. Al is also survived by his grandchildren, Christian Pundt, Alyssa DeMarco, Emily Pundt, Peyton DeMarco, Addison DeMarco, Eric DeMarco, David DeMarco and John Luke DeMarco; his siblings, Dorothy Kaminski, Theresa DeMarco, Barbara Farrar and John DeMarco. Al graduated from St. Pius X High School in 1962 in Houston, Texas. He also served his country in Vietnam as a member of the United States Army. Al devoted his career to the retail industry working for FedMart, Randalls and Eckards/CVS. Al took pride in his ranch where he enjoyed gardening, tractors, and his cows. He also took great pride in assisting with retreats and preparing the grounds for parishioners and participants at the Kickapoo Ranch & Retreat Center located on his property in Waller. Al enjoyed studying genealogy and cherished time spent with his family and close friends. A visitation with the family will begin at 6:00 p.m., with a recitation of the Holy Rosary and Vigil at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, January 3, 2019 in the Warren Chapel at St. Dominic's Village, 2401 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2019 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 8825 Kempwood Drive, Houston, Texas 77080. A reception with the family will immediately follow Mass. Al will be laid to rest at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, in Houston, Texas.
