Shannan and Ryan,
I wish I had some sage advice to share about how this will get easier, or that there's a reason for this. What I have learned through the loss of someone I love is that it doesn't get easier, but it does become normal. Your son was cherished, he was loved, he was wanted and he will not be forgotten. Know that although he is gone, we, your family and friends, are still here to lift you up, love and support you. Call me anytime at 910-528-6107 for a shoulder to cry on, someone to talk to, or someone to just get your mind off of things and tell you a cheesy joke. Shan, I've always looked up to you and thought you were a strong, bada**, intelligent, witty, beautiful woman. You still are. You will overcome this, I promise. One thing I've learned that tragedy like this will break you down and take you to your darkest places, you will blame yourself and wish there's something you could've done. Your therapist will tell you to forgive yourself. (Easier said than done.) Even though it's difficult to let go of the guilt and other dark feelings we hold, we can learn to live with them. Shan, every tragedy you have gone through has shaped you into the amazing soul that you are and this is no different. A lot of times I feel like I'm an 'old soul', I know you probably feel like this too. I think this feeling is one of the only gifts we get from trauma. Knowing deep hurt and loss makes other small inconveniences seem insignificant. Ryan, I know you are hurting too. Thank you for loving Shannan and being there for her. I love you both to the moon and back and am sending all the thoughts, prayers and good vibes I can your way right now. Love, Miranda

The Now I lay me down to sleep foundation provided a volunteer photographer to record Grants short life with us. I am so grateful for the loving care that they provided to my grandson. We would be honored to have your support their mission to help other grieving parents through their remembrance photography at www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org/donate. Thank you for your kind words and condolences during this difficult time.
Baby Grant held all our hopes and dreams in his tiny little hand. As his grandmother I am probably a little biased but I thought he was the most beautiful baby I’ve ever seen. I find comfort in believing that he is in heaven with those that have passed before us. I like to imagine my Mamaw Rada and Aunt Delcie are spoiling him and loving on him for us. The time that we got to spend holding him and saying goodbye was priceless.
Shannan and Ryan, words can’t express how sorry I am for your loss. I love you both very much. You gave me my first grandson and hopefully there will be more but he will always be number one in my heart.

Dear Shannon,
I am so sorry for your loss. I can not even imagine the heartbreak you are feeling, I can only share with you my deepest sympathies and compassion. I remember what an amazing friend to me you were when we were little. I used to get to watch scary movies with you at your house that my parents wouldn’t have ever let me seen otherwise and we went to go see Jurassic Park when it first came out and during the scene with the T-Rex you squeezed my arm so hard I thought I might loose my hand! I remind you of this in hopes of gifting you a little smile for your day and to remind you that through all the pain and sorrow your life is still a blessing that you have shared with so many people along the way. Sending my love to you and your family. Stay strong and feel free to reach out if you ever need to talk!
Your old friend,
Allen Reed

Shannan my friend I am so sorry for your loss. You have been on my mind for weeks. I remember the first time we met in Annapolis and the first time I was left “in charge” of you and the twins . You were clearly in charge and you were your own independent woman all the way back then ;) You were so much fun from day one. We grew to be such good friends and your family welcomed me in with open arms. I just want to wrap my arms around you right now my friend and tell you how much I love you and miss you. I won’t tell you the days ahead will be easy but know that I will be thinking about you often and sweet beautiful baby Grant. I love his name. Please reach out to me when your ready.
