I worked with Ernie for many years at Central Patrol Division. He had a great attitude and was always willing to help out with whatever work needed to be done. If Ernie and his partner Dave Zaharis, were on your scene, you knew they had your back and things were going to be handled in a professional manner. Rest in peace Ernie.

Ernie and Dave are together again. They joined Dan Fike and Ray Tays in Heaven, where God only knows what mischief they are getting into. Ernie was David’s best friend and brother (from another mother) and “uncle” to our children. He was family in every sense of the word. Love and miss you. Debbie and the Zaharis Crew.

I worked central patrol for 16 years, most of them with Ernie. He always had a smile and a story to share. I have bumped into him a couple of times since he retired and enjoyed the time swapping stories. I will miss you brother, rest in peace.

I got to work in my early days in patrol on nightshift, Central- 2 District with Ernie. I always remember Ernie & Dave Zaharis as regular partners. Boy did we have some characters around us in those days, and great police. Ernie, Dave, Dan Fike, Wayne Bethune, Doug Estes, Leroy Tuttle, Frank Covarubias, and others I am missing will be missed. Some great memories with these guys. After his retirement, Ernie was the driving force behind getting a bunch of the ole Central crowd together which provided for some great times and lots of big stories from days gone by. You will be missed brother. Gone way before your time.
Mike Burdick.

I too had the pleasure of knowing and working with Ernie during my Central Patrol days. I remember how caring he was to his friends and was like an angel to our friend Ray Tays during his tough times. I thought of Ernie as a good friend and will miss his calm and supportive demeanor. Gone too soon Bro. RIP.
