Ernie was born on October 29, 1959, at Tachikawa Air Base, Tachikawa, Tokyo, Japan to Victor M. Mireles, Sr. and Maria T. Mireles.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Maria T. and Victor M. Mireles Sr.; and his sisters, Anna and Linda Mireles.
He is survived by his wife, Christine D. Campbell Mireles; brother, Victor M. Mireles Jr. and his wife, Felicia; brother, Mark Mireles and his wife, Ananya; brother, Michael Mireles and wife, Arelys; sister, Katherine BisCamp and husband, Walter; sister, Irene Swartz and her husband, Davie; nephews, Joseph Mireles, Eric Vaughn, and Brad BisCamp; nieces, Barbara Anne Thompson, Nicole Lopez-Cummins, and Usaniyaporn Yindee; as well as many other family and friends.
Ernie retired from the Houston Police Department in 2015 after 33 years of devoted service. Ernie was a patrol officer out of Central. During his career, he never promoted or transferred to another division because he felt patrol was where he belonged and where he could help the most people. Ernie loved riding his HARLEY. He enjoyed tinkering with a vehicle or lawn mower or anything else with a motor. If he didn’t know how to fix it, he would work on it until he did.
Ernie loved his family and friends and would help anyone he could.
Ernie loved GOD and worshipped him every moment of every day. He was a member of St. Edith Stein Catholic Church in Katy, Texas.
A memorial service in honor of Ernie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., October 28, 2020 at St. Edith Stein Catholic Church, 3311 North Fry Road in Katy, Texas. Interment and reception will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be made to St. Edith Stein Catholic Church, 3311 N. Fry Road, Katy, Texas 77449.
Ernie lived a full life and was a true inspiration to many others. Thanks to all those who supported me and Ernie during this lengthy illness.
