Obituary of Brian Paul Bourgeois

Please share a memory of Brian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Brian Paul Bourgeois, born July 1, 1953 in New Orleans, Louisiana, died on Friday, July 17, 2020, surrounded by his family at his home after a brave 10-year battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Bourgeois; sons, Matthew Bourgeois, and wife Savannah, and Andrew Bourgeois; granddaughter, Remy Bourgeois; siblings, Chris Bourgeois, Lynn Bourgeois, and Janine Kosztolanyi; and father, Gaston Bourgeois. He was preceded in death his mother, Florence Bourgeois.

Brian graduated from Lutcher High School in 1971, where he was a member of the football, baseball, and basketball teams. He attended Tulane University on a football scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1975.  Brian started his career as an engineer with PPG Industries in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he met the love of his life, Sara. Together, Brian and Sara enjoyed a devoted marriage of 42 years.

Brian worked for PPG for 22 years and was promoted often.  During his career with PPG, Brian and his family lived in Voorhees, NJ, Charlotte, N, Lake Charles, LA, and Pittsburgh, PA, where he retired as Director of Marketing for Chlor-Alkali & Derivatives.  Brian began a second career in Texas with Canexus Corp. and retired in 2018 as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Brian was a faithful member of the Catholic church. He volunteered with Senior Connection, building and repairing homes for seniors in need, and served as a Eucharistic Minister for Sts. Simon & Jude. He enjoyed woodworking, reading American history and presidential biographies, vacationing with his family (particularly snow skiing), and golfing - always working on his elusive goal of “breaking 80.”  He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving husband and father, driven and honest colleague, helpful and friendly neighbor, and loyal friend.

A viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Sts. Simon & Jude Catholic Church, 26777 Glen Loch Drive, The Woodlands, Texas.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Chris Bourgeois, Lynn Bourgeois, Gary Kubera, Bill Schwarzauer, Bob Taylor, and Hank Wood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org), and American Humane (americanhumane.org).
