Obituary of Burton Wesley Hayslip

Burton Wesley Hayslip was born in Houston, Texas on December 7, 1930, and passed away on June 5, 2021.

He attended Jeff Davis High School in Houston, Texas.  Burton served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952.  He married his loving wife, Mary Joyce (Lentz) Hayslip on September 16, 1956.  Burton and Mary were married for 63 years, until her passing on November 13, 2019.  The couple were blessed with 3 sons:  Felix, Doyle and Robin Hayslip.

In the 1950's Burton enjoyed playing music and made various recordings with the duo Burton and Charlie.  He was an auto mechanic by trade and worked for a few GM dealerships in the Houston area. He also loved to travel, visiting many places in the US, Canada, Central America, Japan and the Hawaiian, Micronesian and Marshall Islands.  Burton was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Hazel and Wesley Jay Hayslip: his wife, Mary Joyce Hayslip and his son Felix Hayslip.

Burton is survived by his sister Joy Webb; sons, Doyle Hayslip and wife Sharon, Robin L. Hayslip and wife Cecilia J; grandchildren, Wade Hayslip, Casey Hayslip, Emily Dean and husband Shawn; great grandchildren Felix Walker Hayslip, Allura Lorraine Dean and Evelyn Malina Dean; sister-in-laws Barbara Vahrenkamp and husband Calvin and Violet Engram and husband Bruce and numerous nieces, nephews  cousins and friends.

A visitation for family and friends be from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Joseph J. Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott Street in Houston, Texas.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Living Savior Lutheran Church, 309 Pond Street in Montgomery, Texas, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at the Loewe Family Cemetery, 14270 Lenz-Meier Lane in Carmine, Texas.
