"...This spot was not such a blessing after all as the car had been towed, turning free into "pretty penny". I dare say the evening was longer than expected and did not necessarily end on a high note.
In spite of parking fiascos they spent many great evenings together including seeing Judy Garland and Johnny Mathis at Seton Hall University.
In recent years my father treasured all the fishing trips they took: Florida, Texas, Colorado - except for that accoutrement - your Dad's cellphone! The other guys would threaten to toss it to the fish! And nearly did on more than one occasion. I think the only thing that stopped them is knowing your Dad would have dived in after it!
They shared many, many wonderful times.
How many of us these days have the blessing of a friendship spanning seven decades? I know my Mother cherished her friendship with your Dad as well. They shared that indomitable, irreverent New Jersey sense of humor! It meant a great deal to Albert and I that he and Jamie came to our wedding in California. Your Dad showed he still had the moves! He was a Master of the dance floor!
His joy and his smile will be missed, will never be matched and never forgotten.
You are in our prayers,
Cathy Burns-Perrotta on behalf of the entire Burns Clan: Jack, Cathy, Johnny & Mary, Cathy & Albert, Cindy & Coray and Kids."

"Dear John, Brian, Chris, Jamie, Carolyn and family,
The world is most certainly going to be a duller place without Jack. He was the original Energizer Bunny, but truly his battery was your Mom.
Since our parents were friends since childhood (our Dad) and high school (our Mom) they have always been a part of our lives.
My Dad recounted several reminisces to me this week about their friendships. It seems as young boys playing stick ball in the street the two Jacks could never be beaten by the two Joes! They would take the bus up to Mountain Lake and fish all day catching the very last bus home, where their angry Moms awaited them at the bus stop. They often went to the lake or Branch Brook Park, doing "crazy" things like taking a boat out in the rain or swimming the length of the lake.
My Dad recalled going to a NY Giants football game with tickets compliments of your Dad's connections. "The game was at Yankee Stadium and back then it was a real happening. The men wore suits, hats and overcoats. Everyone dressed up. The team had Frank Gifford and Jimmy Brown, All-American, who was half the size of the other players and yet no one could catch him."
Of course it was natural for our Dads to share sporting events since they were teammates in basketball and baseball at St. Michael's. As young couples our parents would often double date, frequently driving into the city - the long way via the bridge - because Gerry would get sick going through the Lincoln Tunnel. Inevitably at dinner your Mom would order a huge dinner much to the chagrin of your Dad because she would never eat more than 20% of it. Historically, finding parking in the city for free on the street is more than a little miracle. All in agreement that they had found one such miracle they went on with their evening. Of course, you can guess what happened. To be continued..."

"Dear John, Brian, Chris, Jamie, Carolyn and family
Bill and I share the loss of your Dad-Jack. We have so many funny stories and when I look back to think of all the good times just have a smile on my face. Too soon after the passing of your Mom and one of my best friends Geraldine whom I still think about everyday. The best tribute to your parents is that they raised 5 wonderful children that they were so proud of ."
