Evelyn (Budnick) Chmiel passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Evelyn was born on August 14, 1958, to Bernard and Sarah (Jozwiak) Budnick. She was baptized at Assumption Catholic Church shortly after birth.  Her Godparents were Edwin Jozwiak and Dorothy Buchala. She went to school at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School from first grade to seventh grade, where she also received her first communion and confirmation.

She moved to Longview, Texas in 1973 as her father’s job transferred from Houston. She graduated from Pine Tree High School in Longview in 1976.  After graduation, Evelyn, moved to Houston for a job with The Hartford Insurance Company.  Evelyn retired from Hartford after more than 20 years of service.  The next year she went on to a job she always talked about having – Walmart.  She always thought it would be fun to work at one of the places she loved to shop at, so she did.

Evelyn is survived by her spouse, Michael Ellis; daughter, Angie Chmiel and Jock Logan; sister, Betty Jackowski and her husband, Robert; brother, Julian Budnick and his wife, Susie; nephews, Matthew Jackowski and Ben Budnick; nieces, Robyn Bilski and her husband, Patrick, Kelly Weisenfels and her husband, Jay, Crystal Kimberly and her husband, Jeff; great-nieces, Sarah and Loryn Bilski, Mary Weisenfels; and great-nephew, Jack Weisenfels.  She is also survived by her two puppy dogs, Pepe and Maddie.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Sarah Budnick, and her brother Norbert Budnick.

Evelyn loved watching movies and going out to dinner with Mike.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 14, 2021 at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 26777 Glen Loch Drive in The Woodlands, Texas.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Resthaven cemetery in Houston, Texas.
