Please share a memory of Anna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Anna Mildred Mrahunec, born September 18, 1926, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, August 15, 2021, in Houston, Tx. on the feast of holy Mary’s Assumption.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Omar Davidson Cline and Rachael Lyn Irwin, husband George F. Mrahunec, son Rocklyn Mrahunec, sisters Norma Jean, Mary, Henrietta, and Margaret, brothers Thomas and William, nephews George (Skippy), Wade, William, Omar and niece, Marion.

She is survived by her daughters George Anna Bobo and Tyona Garcia Mrahunec, grandchildren Gene Adam Kennon and wife Nicola, Anna Elizabeth Kennon Stembridge and husband Michael, Christopher E. Mrahunec and Rocklyn A. Mrahunec, and great granddaughter, Hannah Elizabeth Stembridge, her loving sister Coral Pauline (Polly) Carlini, nieces Gloria, Linda, Valerie, Patricia and Helen, and long-time friend Patricia Bobo Cristo.

Anna grew up in McKees Rocks, Pa. and lived in Corpus Christi, before settling down in Harlingen, Tx. Later the family relocated to Houston, Tx where she raised three children and worked at Tx Instrument as a technician until her retirement.  She continued to help her daughters with their businesses for several years.

Beautiful blue eyes and platinum hair, you could not miss her in a crowd.

She loved to love on all dogs, particularly her own Bengi and Hilda.  Anna was a longtime member of the Houston Obedience Training Dog Club where she served on several committees and was named “member of the year”.

Among her favorite hobbies was rooting for her favorite teams, Pittsburg Pirates, Steelers, and Houston’s own Astros. Speaking of games, nothing was more fun than Sunday dinners with the laughter and raucous over card games and dominoes, with maybe a bit of cheating going on. Of course, when WWE wrestling came on, you better not even whisper that it was a fake!

But her favorite pastime was spending time at the Boliver beach house and fishing in East Bay. She would sometimes stay up all night just to be ready to leave Houston at 4:00 a.m. in the morning to get on the water to fish. She would sit in that boat from daylight to dusk, patiently waiting for a bite, never complaining, just enjoying the salt breeze, blue skies and water and our company.

Chocolate, coffee, lemon donuts, fruit, seafood, Italian food, salads, and yes black licorice were her favorite foods. On occasion, a gin and tonic or Sangria might touch those “lilly lips.”

There was never a holiday, birthday or special occasion that was not celebrated.  Christmas and Easter were her favorite holidays, and her nativity and Christmas tree decorations were always meticulously displayed.

Anna converted to Catholicism around 1958 and instilled in her family the love of God, country, family, and friends.

In 2010 Anna was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and after four years of living with her daughters, she moved to an assisted living memory care facility. For years after that she still attended church, family events and dog sporting events until the Covid disaster. Anna will be remembered as a loving mother and good friend to all. She will be terribly missed by her family.
