Gerardo Rodrigo Reyna, 56, of South Houston, entered into eternal rest on November 5, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Gerardo was a 1984 graduate of South Houston High School. He was a dedicated Fine Arts student. His natural musical talent was evident as he played violin in the Orchestra, and he sang in Choir. He was also active in Theatre and was named to the All-Star Cast at UIL. Gerardo then received his Associate's Degree and was working toward the completion of his Master's Degree in Health Care Administration.

His interests also included tinkering with the guitar and the accordion, and he was a great lover of pop music. As an adult, Gerardo took pleasure in traveling to South Texas to visit his extended family and dove hunt with them.

Gerardo's most recent employment experience was with a large discount chain in a corporate management position traveling the country. In his next role, he managed an auto parts store. As a returning student, he brought his professional experience into the classroom which allowed him to mentor his fellow classmates.

One of Gerardo's strengths was his commitment to his community which led him to volunteer in several capacities. He served as a volunteer fireman and paramedic for several years for the City of South Houston. Additionally, he spent many years working as a volunteer with Harris Health System. At the Strawberry Health Center, which served the Pasadena and East Houston area, Gerardo advocated for patients and provided assistance to the staff. He also volunteered with Back to School immunization campaigns. As an active member of the Patient Advisory Committee, he served as Secretary and Chairperson. In recognition of his invaluable contributions, Gerardo was selected as Volunteer of the Year.

Gerardo was deeply devoted to his family. He spent many years caring for his father as his health declined due to Alzheimer's Disease. After his father's death, Gerardo remained at his mother's side and cared for her until his final days.

Gerardo was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Reyna and his brother-in-law, Paul Kuntz.

He is survived by his mother, Margarita Reyna, and his siblings, Ilianna Reyna Kuntz, and her daughter Aria, Martha Reyna-Rebelle and her husband Lee and their son Thomas, and Cesar Reyna. Gerardo was also cherished by numerous extended family members and dear friends. Many of them have shared their memories of his kindness, humor and big heart.
