Obituary of Kenneth Lane Grant

Kenneth Lane Grant was born on April 5, 1964 in Aquadilla, Puerto Rico, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Bertha Grant. Kenneth lived the majority of his life in Clovis, New Mexico. There he established many relationships that made him the man we all know and love. While growing up in Clovis, Kenneth attended Bella Vista Elementary School, Gattis Junior High, and Clovis High School. He did expand his horizons in New York with his father, Henry Alphonso Grant, and attended P. S. 192 Queens, New York. During his high school years, Kenneth did enjoy the game of football. He was very athletic, and there on the football field, Kenneth's leadership skills evolved. Eastern New Mexico University was an extension of Kenneth's Rite of Passage. There he became a man of "Alpha Phi Alpha". He was able to express who he really was through his demonstration of true integrity. He received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, with a minor in Political Science. He was also President of the campus organization, KUSH/Black Student Union, and his hidden talent was singing in the Weusi Choir. Due to his father being in the military, he has lived in several cities. He was born in Aquadilla, Puerto Rico, which led to Rapid City, South Dakota, Lake Charles, Lousiana, Queens Village, New York, Clovis, New Mexico, and his final journey, Houston, Texas. Houston, Texas began his career with children in less fortunate situations. Family Connection, Texas Key, Covenant House, New Life Beginnings, and A Fresh Start Treatment Center are the agencies where Kenneth demonstrated his passion of being an advocate for children. Kenneth was preceeded in death by his father Henry Alphonso Grant, and brother, Carl W. Grant. He is survived by his mother Bertha Grant; wife Jacqueline Corley; brothers Gregory, Troy, and LeeAndre Grant; sisters Shirley Grant and Catina Grant-Cloy; and a Host of nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
