Obituary of Nunzio John Santarcangelo

Nunzio John “N.J.” Santarcangelo, born January 5, 1949 in Houston, TX to Rocco and Jeannette Santarcangelo, passed away on Thursday April 21, 2022 in Sugar Land, TX.

 

N.J. was preceded in death by parents Rocco and Jeannette. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia; children Michael (Melissa), Erin (Michael) Clements and Brad; grandchildren Collin, Lilia, Anthony and Harper; sisters Mary Ann Martel, Marietta and Minnette; and countless other family and friends.

 

N.J. was a lifelong Houstonian, growing up in St. Ann’s Catholic Church, graduating from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory (‘67) and Lamar University (‘71). N.J. returned to his high school alma mater shortly after completing his studies and committed his entire career there, exemplifying the school’s motto of being a “man for others”. During his tenure he served in many capacities; including as the Chairman of the History Department, Director of Admissions and finally as the Director of Development. N.J. was an avid fisherman, always looking forward to his trips hunting speckled trout, flounder and redfish with friends all along the Gulf Coast in Texas. He was a devoted family man; deeply committed to his wife, children and grandchildren. N.J. never knew a stranger and was loved by all who were lucky enough to know him.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am., Tuesday,  April 26, 2022 at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugarland Texas. The Rite to Committal will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd., Houston, Texas. 

 

Friends are invited to drop in at the family’s home between 3:00pm and 6:00pm for a reception to raise a glass, share a memory and celebrate N.J.’s life.

 

The family requests that those wishing to express their sympathy consider a donation in memory of N.J. to either Strake Jesuit College Preparatory or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
