Obituary of Gilberto I. Campos, Jr.

Gilberto I. Campos, Jr. , born July 31, 1961 in Mercedes, Texas to Delicia and Gilberto Campos, died Tuesday, June 21, 2022, in The Woodlands, Texas.

Gilberto was preceded in death by his father, Gilberto I. Campos, Sr.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife, Guadalupe “Lupita” Campos; his daughters, Veronica (Brandon) Neyman, Rebecca (Chase Holland) Campos, and Analisa Campos; his mother Delicia Campos; his brothers Jaime Campos and Raul Campos; his sisters Angelica Campos and Alma (Oscar) Caballero; and his granddaughter, Evangeline Moon Holland.

After graduating from Weslaco High School, Gilbert joined the U.S Marine Corp and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. Gilbert enjoyed his employment with S&R Resources for many years. When not working, Gilbert loved to spend time with his friends and family, especially his granddaughter. He was an active parishioner of Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, participating in the Rosa Mystica and Rosary prayer groups. Gilbert also enjoyed running, Dallas Cowboys football and taking family pictures.

The family of Gilberto Campos will be receiving family and friends Friday, July 1, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Salinas Funeral Home Chapel of the Angels in Elsa, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, Texas.
