Occasionally I got to go to the Doubleday house after school, and Mrs. Hill Doubleday (or Walker's mom, as I thought of her), always had a warm welcome for me. This was during those awkward middle school years for Walker and me, but there were always snacks and games and her generosity made those afternoons something I could genuinely look forward to. I'm grateful to have those memories today as I send loving thoughts to the Doubleday family.

Mrs. V you made such a remarkable impact on so many people. Your strength, love, courage, and wisdom was shared with every person that crossed your path. I’m forever grateful that I got to be apart of your life.
I’ll never forget our late night 42 games, sitting on the porch watching the sunset, discussing the clouds and the trees as the moments rolled by out at the farm.
There will never be another Mrs. V, ViVi, or Verlinde. You will always be loved and forever missed.

Julia and Verlinde welcomed me to their family ranch for Christmas the first year after my Mother died. She was very comforting during the difficult time, and I won't forget that. Each time I saw her, she was so kind and gracious to me and my big hound dog. My condolences to the Doubleday family and everyone she touched.

I so loved having you as a client for many years in my hair business!! You always had such a sweet spirit and a beautiful smile and many words of wisdom!! I look at one of your paintings every night in my bedroom and hope you know how talented you really were!!
