Eleanor McKissick

Obituary of Eleanor Muse McKissick

Please share a memory of Eleanor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Eleanor Muse McKissick was born May 15, 1940 in Beaumont, Texas to Marshall and Eleanor Muse. Eleanor passed away peacefully on January 13, 2023 at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Robert Marshall McKissick.

Eleanor was a bookkeeper, investor and small business owner. She was a gifted photographer and avid reader but most of all she loved people. Family, friends and strangers will remember the kind woman who loved her church and enjoyed long conversations filled with laughter and, at times, tears. She was gracious, but knew what fights to fight. She embodies the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.

Eleanor is survived by her sons, Marc McKissick and his former wife, Eva, and James McKissick and his wife, Tish; grandchildren, Caitlyn, Robert and his wife, Erika, Madeleine, Claire and Sam. She is also survived by her sister, Marianne Beard and her brother, Marshall “Buzz” Muse and many nieces and nephews which all affectionately called her “Woo.”

Finally, the family would like to thank her incredible group of caregivers at Auberge for their faithful and loving care of “Princess” the last 8 years.

Her life will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Joseph J. Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott Street in Houston, Texas. The Rite of Committal will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont, Texas at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, take a caregiver to lunch and/or please consider a donation to The Center for Pursuit - The Center for Pursuit | ID/D Programs & Services in Houston, Texas.
