Fr. O'Connor shared numerous happy and sad occasions with our family. We lived across the street from the rectory at Resurrection Parish. I remember when a newly ordained Fr. O'Connor was assigned to that parish and it wasn't long before my twin brothers, Donald & Ronald, met him; and he continued to be strong influence throughout their lives. He officiated at my wedding, baptized my children as well as Ronald's, and buried my parents and brothers. We got to know his parents and had many crab gumbo dinners in which he, the young Father Fiorenza, and Father Braden attended. He was a devout and pious priest who touched many lives. God rest his soul.

Father Fred was not only the best example of what it was to serve the Lord but the best example of what it was to be a truly great person. I was so blessed to have him in my life before I was even born as he was the greatest family friend for multiple generations that anyone could have asked for. He always enjoyed watching golf on the television with us and played the role as our father figure. He taught us how to ride a bike, how to fish and even how to play baseball, albeit, not as good as him. Every person who crossed his path was blessed to have such a wonderful person in their life. I truly know that he is with God now and continuing his spiritual journey. We love you and miss you Father Fred.

Father O'Connor was the epitome of a priest. He was the most generous, giving of his talents, caring and selfless person I've ever met. He used all his resources in everything he did... he was never afraid to ask anybody for anything. If he had connections, he utilized them in all aspects of his ministry to help others. I was fortunate enough to work alongside him, helping with our auctions at our church bazaars. He had a story for anything you would discuss with him. If you had topic, he had a story! I've had the pleasure of knowing Father since 1976 when he was assigned to St. Jude Catholic Church in Highlands, Texas. If mine wasn't the first wedding he performed, it was the second. Father has been an important part of our family through the years. Besides marrying me, he baptized my children, my nephews, and my grandson, He presided at the funerals of my husband and my child and other family members and always delivered the most personal, touching eulogies. He will be sorely missed here on earth, but heaven has certainly gained a precious angel! Rest in peace Father! Condolences and prayers to his family!
