Patricia M. Parks Price

Patricia M. Price, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and gifted teacher passed into eternal life on February 26, 2023 from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.

Her life began on July 28, 1948 in Washington, D.C., the eldest of four children of Richard C. Parks and Madeleine Vaillancourt Parks, both proud Vermonters. Patti’s elementary and secondary education was in the Catholic school system in the D.C. area: St. Francis Xavier School and LaReine High School. She was a proud Alumnus of the University of Maryland, College Park.  (Go Terps!) She graduated in December, 1970 with a degree in Speech and Drama Education with a minor in History.

While raising three children, Patti performed volunteer work at her home Parish in Lakewood, Colorado, and later at the schools her children attended in Houston, Texas. At the same time, she attended graduate school at Houston Baptist University, studying ancient civilizations and obtaining a Texas teaching certificate. Her love of history also drew her into the rich history of Texas. On vacation drives through the state, not a trip was taken without a rendition of the people from those areas who made the Lone Star State what it is.

As a product of Catholic school education, Patti felt drawn to teaching in the Archdiocesan school system. She began this phase of her career at Holy Name School, followed by St. John Paul II, St. Ambrose and finally, thirteen years at St. Thomas High School where she taught Ancient World history to freshmen. She instilled a love of history into the minds of many young men and influenced the life direction of most. She was always touched by alumni who, when visiting school, would find their way to her classroom, receive a hug, and proudly tell her how they were doing and how much she had influenced them both academically and personally.

Patti lived her life exemplifying the values she held dear: her faith in and love of God and an appreciation of the beauty of His creation and the intrinsic value of each of His created. Her values shined forth in her family, welcoming all who entered her circle of life. She touched the lives of many students throughout her teaching career, working to enrich their lives academically and spiritually.

Patti is survived by her loving husband of nearly 52 years, Linden, as well as daughter Eileen, her husband Jon McDonald, and their family: Brenna, Hayden, and Austin.  Also, the children of her deceased son Timothy and his wife Claudia: Elise, her husband Michael Chica and their daughter Sawyer, and Ethan, Madeleine, Emma, Rhyann, and Declan.  She was lovingly referred to by her grandchildren as “Mas”.

A visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by a Vigil for the Deceased at 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell Street in Houston, Texas.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 also at St. Theresa Catholic Church.
