David Eugene Boedeker, born February 4, 1949 in Bryan, Texas to Roland and Beverly Boedeker, passed away peacefully at home on February 6, 2016 in Houston, Texas. David was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly and aunt, Betty Maurer. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mary Gay; son, Ian D. Boedeker and his wife, Jennifer Spencer; daughter, Alice R. Boedeker and her partner, Joseph Earthman; grandchildren Paige Munro, Christian Cline, Lauren E. Mitchamore, and Henry N. Earthman; father, Roland Boedeker; siblings, Mary Boedeker, Tom Boedeker and his wife, Tanya, Vivian Land and her husband, Keith, Nancy Prihoda and her husband, Bill, Alan Boedeker and his wife, Amy, Leah Boedeker and her husband John. Raised in Hearne, Texas, David graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1967 and enlisted in the US Army. David served for three years in Germany, and, upon leaving the Army, he married Mary Gay Osborn in May, 1973. The newlyweds lived to College Station, Texas, where David graduated from Texas A & M University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education. Ian, the first of two children, was born on January 2, 1975. The family moved to Houston after graduation where David took a job with the Spring Branch Independent School District working at Memorial High School. Alice, the second of their two children, was born on February 8, 1980. In 1988, David began a 13 year career with General Dynamics and moved to Titusville, Florida. Taking a supervisor position with Lockheed Martin, David moved his family to Stennis Air Force Base in Louisiana , until his retirement in 2007. From there, David and Mary Gay settled in Houston, Texas. A funeral service honoring the life of David will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Joseph J. Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott Street in Houston, Texas. Interment with military honors will follow at Houston National Cemetery.
