Obituary of Johnny W. Farmer

Please share a memory of Johnny to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Johnny Wesley Farmer, born September 26, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas, died with a smile on his face late in the evening on April 8, 2023, at home.

Johnny was preceded in death by his much-loved grandson, John Michael Farmer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Fenn Farmer; his children, Johnny W. Farmer, Jr. and his wife, Joanne, and Russell L. Farmer and his wife, Gina; his grandchildren, Jennifer, James and his wife, Becky; great-grandchildren, Joseph and Olivia; his sisters, Lucille Searle and Claudia Williamson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Johnny and Mary were married in 1977 and started Farmer's Pest Control in 1978, and sold a well-respected business in 2002.

Johnny was not ready to retire and continued to work as Farmer's House Leveling primarily in the Heights.

Johnny thought money was easy to make. Just get a job, work as hard as you can, and it will come to you.

He retired in December of 2011 at 75 years of age. He did this only because Mary said, "enough was enough" and disconnected the phone to make him stop working.

Johnny loved to work, trimming trees, pruning anything that grew, planting flowers, or really anything as long as it was outside.

He tried to go to their lake house every week in Trinity where he worked even harder. He loved it there where he could fish, work in the yard, repair everything with the help of neighbors, sit on the pier with his dog Doodles & enjoy life. Johnny was loved and admired by many and will be greatly missed.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Liturgy of the Word at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 17, 2023, both at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3600 Brinkman Street in Houston, Texas 77018.  The burial will follow at Brookside Memorial Park cemetery, 13747 Eastex Freeway 77039, exit Old Humble Rd., at 1:00 p.m. in Houston, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the St. Rose of Lima Youth Ministry.
