Obituary of Seth Charles Whitaker

Seth Charles Whitaker, born June 24, 1996 in Greenville, South Carolina to Diedre Englade Whitaker and Charles Albert Whitaker, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2016, in Lexington, KY. Seth is survived by his parents, Dee and Charles Whitaker; sisters, Ashley Elizabeth Whitaker of Atlanta, GA., Katherine Marie Whitaker of Raleigh, NC., and Adrienne Michelle Whitaker of New York, NY.; grandmother, Eleanor Grant Whitaker of Owensboro, KY.; and aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of the family. Seth was a freshman mechanical engineering student at the University of Kentucky, who previously attended College Park The Woodlands High School. Seth was a very active and dedicated Boy Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on February 24, 2013 and was inducted as a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow in 2012. Seth received the Tall Timbers District Outstanding Scout Award in 2010. The OA Colonneh Lodge honored Seth with Numbered Certificate 204 in 2012 recognizing his outstanding leadership in Service and the Spirit of Achievement. Seth was honored by his fellow high school classmates by selecting him to represent College Park in the Montgomery County Leadership High School Program. His fellow members in that program honored him by asking him to speak at their commencement ceremony. Seth enjoyed being active and the outdoors. Whether it was camping and backpacking; running cross country on the high school team, competitively rowing for The Rowing Club of The Woodlands; tossing the frisbee with his mother or shooting hoops with his dad. Visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 26777 Glen Loch Drive, in The Woodlands, Texas, followed by a vigil service and a time for friends and family to share memories. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church. A reception with the family will be held in Domec Hall following Mass. The Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America honoring Seth's dedication to Scouting or to a charity of choice honoring Seth's spirit of service to others.
