Harold Lewis Task, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his home on July 18, 2023 in Houston, Texas. Harold was 87 years old.
Harold is survived by his devoted sons, Rob Task and Michael Task, who were a source of immense pride and joy for him throughout his life. He adored his grandchildren, Alexandra Task of Austin, TX, and Spencer Task of Houston, TX, and treasured every moment spent with them.
To many, he was known as "Weird Uncle Harold (or WUH)," a title he embraced with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. His nieces and nephews, Evie Task, Aaron Task, Francine Oliver, Davida Task and Brooke Wolf, fondly remember his eccentricity and kind-heartedness.
A true enthusiast of the mind sport, Harold was a Life Master bridge player. He found great pleasure in participating in bridge tournaments all over the world, engaging in friendly competition with fellow enthusiasts. His passion for the game was infectious, and he inspired others to love and appreciate it as well.
Harold was an exceptional mechanical engineer, dedicating his skills to building, designing, and repairing electrical generation facilities. His work played a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of such facilities, leaving a lasting impact on the communities they served.
In his youth, Harold proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962. He displayed the same discipline and commitment in his military service as he did throughout his life, earning the respect and admiration of his fellow servicemen.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Harold will be remembered for his wacky sense of humor and his vast collection of "good stories to tell." He had an uncanny ability to light up any room with laughter, leaving everyone with a smile on their faces.
Harold Lewis Task was a loving father, a doting grandfather, a quirky uncle, a brilliant engineer, and a delightful friend to many. He touched countless lives with his wit, wisdom, and warmth. Though he may no longer be with us, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
